Former Catholic priest now living in So Cal. with wife. Been writing all his life but principally at first a playwright - 2 plays done in Plays-in Progress at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater.
His first novel, BITTER ORANGES, draws on his experience in seminary and as a priest in California in the turbulent 1960's.
THE WOODS, is set in N. Ireland in the years following the Irish Civil War and explores the coming-of-age struggles and adventures of four head-strong and very engaging sisters.
O'Connor is fascinated by the choices made by young people and how these affect their subsequent lives. He is even more interested in the factors that influence these choices - and the phenomenon of sleepwalking through life, procrastinating on making decisions until the die is cast. "Lives of quiet desperation"
